Grateful Traveler

Remember me, with a smile not sorrow.
My time here on earth was brief,
but oh how much I lived.
I filled each day with purpose
and tried my best to give
a little piece of who I am
to everyone I knew.
And I found in doing so
the love inside me grew.
But a body has its limits and now I need to rest.
My spirit lives forever though and I have been truly blessed.
I left my mark upon the world and in my little girl.
And what more could I ask of life
than to let me be true to myself,
and when it was my time to go
be proud of who I was?
So bid me not to stay, now that my work here is done.
Let me fly free and in remembering me
Share in my journey as I shared in yours.
I am a grateful traveler.
I was only passing through.
But if you keep me in your heart,
I will always live in you.

This is so beautiful Barb, thank you  :\'( :ghug:
The truth is... sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it.

Take as much time as you need. I know some people think I should "get over it", I just don't talk to them about him anymore - no point in talking to people who can't understand.

I really appreciate my friend Robin (she was the Jack to my Ennis on Halloween), who brings it up still when I talk to her.  She doesn't think it odd at all that I would still want to talk about him, about how I feel...

That is so true.

My BBM experience has always been limited to the story and its characters of Ennis and Jack. It took an unspeakable consequence for me to truly appreciate Heath outside of his portrayal of Ennis Del Mar. It is late for me to realize how much I appreciate him as an actor in addition to what he has given us. I regret and I would much like to know him as a person. Only it is too late.

OMG, B.  Most beautiful, perfect.  Did you write this?  I think this theme of "just passing through" somehow is most fitting for Heath.  As much as we may not wish it, it may well be what was in the stars for him, so to speak.

I think it's wonderful that you have someone you can talk to who doesn't treat you as though you were being silly or at all unreasonable to still have deep feelings and want to talk about it.

Yes, I wrote the poem. Thank you for your nice words. :ghug: I can't help feeling that he's still on his journey, and I just feel really fortunate that he passed by me on his way.

I think a big part of Heath's appeal for me was always that he was so unrelentingly, unapologizingly unique and indivdual. And this is something that I've been trying to recapture in recent years. He just seemed to make choices that were much more about being true to himself than trying to please anyone else and their preconceived notions of what he should try to be. That's something that I think we should all strive to do, and it was nice to have that example to look to. :)

:ghug: Ethan. That example is still here with us. Who he is will always stay- that's not going to change- ever. As for appreciating him as an actor, well there's no statute of limitations on that. Look at all of the people who are just now discovering BBM- appreciation for someone or something isn't measured by when you discovered it nor does it diminish because x amount of time has passed. Sometimes we don't realize how much we really did all along until something jars it right up to the surface.

Everyone already said that this is beautiful and touching and appropriate and inspired.

I can only add that I cried as I read it, hearing Heath's voice saying those very words, seeing his smiling face, and Ennis and William Thatcher.

Thank you Barb. I have not had a dream of Heath or Ennis as many of you have had. But I would not be surprised, if recalling these lines as I fall asleep tonight, I should see Heath in my dreams. I am grateful for your words, and to share in his journey.

Some lyrics from different westlife songs that reminds me of Heath

I'm never gonna say goodbye
I swore to you my love would remain
And I swear it all over again
I never wanna see you sad

The more I know of you is the more I know I love you
Day after day time passed away
And I just can't get you off my mind
But if I let you go I will never know
What my life would be holding you close to me

Night after night I hear myself say
Why can't this feeling just fade away
There's no one like you
You speak to my heart
It's such a shame we're worlds apart
If I could I would turn back the time

I don't need nobody,
anyone to take your place but you, I just can't go on without you,
There's no one like you
