jack and randall...and woman powdering their nose
« on: Feb 08, 2006, 10:20 PM »
i can't find the thread now so i'm starting a new one...

someone mentioned in one of their posts that when jack asked randall why woman powder their nose he was trying to get a feel for randall, if he was into guys or not.  maybe i'm not bright but how exactly was that question supposed to show that ranall liked guys??? did i miss something...

any comments

Maybe just speaking about their wives with a certain tone, to see his reaction and  catch any dissatisfaction...I don't know.
Really I thought he was talking for talking's sake ... to be friendly,
while I noticed, like everyone, the glances between Randall  and Jack during the evening.
(and I don't like Randall.. :( )

Yeah, I'd also say it's the "glance" at the able that gives it away. Randall must have a very good "gaydar"!

Perhaps Randell has already sense something when he and Jack exchanging few eyes contact at the ballroom. But personally, I don’t think is Jack take the move first.

(btw, just realized the ak-47 talking wife is Anna Fais. She played that role so well ;D )

At my latest viewing, this scene struck me in funny kind of way. I thought that Jack looked so handsome in his leather jacket and all. All I could think of was, wow, was Randall ever *lucky*. What are the odds of finding someone that attractive that happens to be gay, seated at your table at such an event! :^)

Lucky Randall is right, wish it was me :P

If Randall had said something like "Dont make no difference to me if she powders it or not." then given Jack a long appreciative lingering look into his eyes, that would have been a clear way of expressing his interests. Jack could have been looking for something like this when he brought the subject up.

Did anyone notice that after Randall makes his play for Jack...you know cabin, getting away, fishing, etc., that Jack doesn't answer, just sits there and stares straight ahead.  He looks sad too, like maybe he was thinking about Ennis  :'(.  Donna

Jack was trying to make converstion with him, we don't know how much time those women were in the bathroom but it could be also he was testing the waters

I felt like that scene was just a filler for no reason at all, except when Randall told Jack about going up to the cabin with him. It wasn't as if he had a smile on his face, was being friendly, heck, he wasn't even looking at Jack. That to me signaled Randall's attraction to Jack and wanting to get alone with him. It seemed to be more than just friendly conversation, the body language was off too much.  And then Jack, looking so sad, and not responding, I too think that is because he realize that could be him and Ennis up there. So much for thinking it was a scene that meant nothing. Because by the time the scene was over, I saw that it was so much more than just a filler scene!!

When Jack asks "wanna dance" it seems he looked at Randall..too..or am I totally lost here ::) and those flirting eyes at the table, you can't misunderstand them.. confusing and somehow fine/excellent scene.

I thought he was looking at Randall, too.

When Jack asked to LaShawn to dance, I wondered why Randall didn't ask Lurreen. Seems like the appropriate thing to do, ya know?

I suspect that Randall doesn't know how to dance.  No real evidence for this, unlike in the case of Ennis, where you clearly see in the first scene with Cassie that Ennis certainly did not know how to dance...

Same here. Why didn't Randall ask Lureen? I kept wondering that myself. I'll have to watch again, for the 5th time now in a week :) to see Jack look at Randall when he asks LaShawn to dance.  I also wonder, why was Lureen being cold to LaShawn? Very "one up" on her every time she said something. Was it because she just found her annoying or something deeper?

yeah, a gay radar :D I have that btw ;)

@donnaread: I SO agree. I think Jack was starring like that because the words 'fishing', 'cabine', 'run away some' and 'mountains' totally HIT HOME!!!!! I felt so....sad in that scene :(  :'(
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner.
All is well.
