When you can slow it down, you sure catch a lot of tidbits!

I recently, er.. have gotten the power to pause the movie on demand, it's incredible the amount of details you find!

For example, in a single frame in which Ennis reads the postcard from Jack:

1) Jack's official location in Texas is the town of Childress.

2) The postmark on the card reveals Sept.1967 as the official sending, and Jack mentions the "24th" as the day he will be passing through town, thus one can conclude that their second meeting was on September 24th, 1967.

3) The image on the postcard is also revealed as "El Capitan and Signal Peak, Wy"

4) The letter is NOT specifically addressed to Ennis, if not sent by Genera Delivery (like many of you suggested) to Ennis, and I'm sure the postmaster then forwarded it.

Well, that's just one frame, but lot's learned, I'll be posting any additional details as I find them, feel free to ask for a specific one!

On the second postcard ( the one Elma tucks in the grocery adverts), you can see the full address of Ennis' apt, 80 Pershing St, Apt #2.

Did you catch the one on Aguirre's trailer?  "Tresspassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again" sign?

Hi.  I posted this somewhere else so I apologize for the redundancy but I never got a response.  Did anyone notice the bar across the street from the post office where Ennis picks up his post cards is called "JTs" Bar (as in J.ack T.wist)???  I find it hard to believe that this is just a coincidence.....   Midtown Freak - if you could slow this part down, let me know what you see!  Thanks!

Hello sylsoul.  I have not noticed this -- I will watch out tonight when I see the movie again.   Perhaps the production people were making playful references...

What is also interesting is the clear plastic wrapped popcorn-looking snack without a label hanging behind the 'Sale' sign.  I am wondering how authentic that would be for the late 1960s.  I would have assumed it would have come in a cardboard box.  The Saltines and other snacks, including peanuts in a jar, seem authentic, although Peanuts have been sold in cans for decades as well.

The bean brand Better Most, as best as I can make out, appears to have been invented for the movie because I can't find any reference to it anywhere.

The amusing moment in that scene was Ennis being confused over what the word "condiment" meant.

Remember the scene (I think it's their third and final meeting?) where they are passing the joint and the bottle back and forth? I always love to see what people are drinking in movies, so I strained to see the label on the bottle. Does anybody know if "Old Rose" is real whiskey? I looked for it today, but the store I was in didn't have much of a selection. I'd love to have a small bottle as a reminder of the movie (not that I need any with my severe case of PBS!).
