I still think there is a problem when "Big Momma's House 2" ranks #2 box office.
There was a line in a Mary Tyler Moore show: "You'll never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the ________ public"
left out the country name because I want to be politically correct and not offend my fellow Americans.
The quote actually originated with HL Mencken - "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." Mencken, dubbed the "Sage of Baltimore" was an American journalist and writer. He wasn't PC, but he was very funny and very insightful. Other quotes:
"For every human problem, there is a neat, simple solution; and it is always wrong."
"Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy."
"Immorality: The morality of those who are having a better time."
"Jealousy: The theory that some other fellow has just as little taste."
"The basic fact about human existence is not that it is a tragedy, but that it is a bore."
