Jon's hosting job
« on: Mar 06, 2006, 01:00 PM »
What did you think?

I hear he's getting ripped, but personally I liked it.
I mean we all know his humor is dry, I loved it.
The joke about what the world thinks of Hollywood...and then saying
"I have no joke there, it's just what they think.."

And the Dick Cheney shooting the swan dress joke.

I thought he was wonderful.  Funny but not rude.  I prefer him to Chris Rock any day, thank you very much.

Right, I mean he was understated but no rudeness.
I liked it, I would watch him again.

He started in on cowboy movies, and all the people I was watching with started getting offended and I was like: "No, it's a set up" and they played all those homoerotic scenes from history. It was cool. Everyone is so upset about the loss to Crash, I'm like: with all the other injustice in the world, why waste your time being mad about an Oscar.

His delivery was painful to watch.  With all his money he could have afforded better material.

I thought Jon did a great job - a few klinkers, yes...but for the most part, he was classic Jon Stewart.  I assume that's why they asked him to host...
He pressed his face into the fabric and breathed in slowly through his mouth and nose, hoping for the faintest smoke and mountain sage and salty sweet stink of Jack but there was not real scent, only the memory of it, the imagined power of Brokeback Mountain of which nothing was left but what he held in his hands....
